I Want My HTC G1 Please T-Mobile

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I’m on the waiting list for the HTC G1 from T-Mobile, better knows as the Google Phone. I have been waiting for this since I first seen the videos and heard the rumours a long time ago. The Videos enforced my reasoning for wanting one as I am a Google Whore. I love the tools they have. Gmail is amazing, Docs is shockingly ace, maps is wow! I could go on forever.

This phone, made by HTC, is powered by Android. Just last week Google made he Android code open source. Meaning thousands of people can contribute to making the software on it much better. Granted there will probably be a few Google haters out there that will try and take handsets down with dodgy code, but I think the Android team will probably check anything before allowing it to reach the handsets.

I today had another e-mail from T-Mobile telling me that I can pre order my G1 on the 29th October. Brilliant! and (as expected) it comes with an unlimited Internet Package.

Android Source Code Released

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Although I don’t mind the iPhone, I have never really been all that much of a Mac Fanboy. When Google announced the Android platform and HTC launching the G1 in association with Google. I thought “Gotta get me one of them” and am on the T-Mobile UK waiting list.

On the 21st October Google released all of the Android source code and made it Open Source. This means now that you and I can go out there and make some Android apps. (which don’t really need to be approved like Apple’s did).

This video as an introduction to the Android platform. Android Developers speak

I am downloading my SDK tonight when I get home and am already thinking of some apps to create for my G1 when it gets here. Will probably have a look at the source and see if theres anything good in there.

Have always been a bit of a fan of the open source side of the industry.

Google Mail Canned Responses

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I have used Gmail (which is STILL in beta) now for well over a year, its quality I have 5 email accounts running on it, and the spam filtering is awesome.

Gmail has now added another new feature, you can set upp canned responses or auto responders as we normally know them as.

One ways is that it works like some of filters you may have already set up on your inbox. Step one choose the criteria based on keyword / people / subjects, step two choose what you want to do with them emails. See below image.

You can now choose an auto response e-mail to send out. Great if you have many many emails coming in.

You can also choose your canned response right from the mail composition page (see below)
